Alphafly 3 or Vaporfly 3: which one should a first time marathoner pick?

The Alphafly 3 carries more plate and Air Zoom cushioning, built for runners over 4 hours or heavier frames who need shock absorption late in a race. The Vaporfly 3 is lighter and snappier, suited to sub 4 hour paces. Pick Alphafly first if in doubt.

Can the Alphafly 3 handle Indian road surfaces and heat during marathon training blocks?

Yes, the Vaporweave upper breathes well through humid pre dawn training runs common across Mumbai and Bengaluru marathon calendars. The carbon plate holds up fine on tarmac, though the foam compresses faster on broken road surfaces than on a clean racecourse.

How many kilometres does an Alphafly 3 midsole realistically last before it feels dead?

Most racers get 200 to 250 kilometres of race and workout use before the ZoomX foam loses its rebound. Reserve the shoe for race day and key speed sessions rather than daily mileage, and rotate a trainer for easy runs to extend its life.

Does the Alphafly 3 fit true to size for Indian foot shapes?

The toe box runs narrow through the midfoot compared to the Vaporfly line, so runners with wider Indian foot profiles often go half a size up. Try the Prototype or Sail Crimson Tint colourway against your usual Pegasus size before committing to race day.
