Seiko 5 Sports GMT vs. standard Seiko 5 Automatic: what does the GMT complication add for an Indian buyer?

The GMT hand tracks a second time zone, which is useful if you travel between India and the US, UK, or Gulf regularly. For domestic-only wear, the standard automatic is cleaner on the dial. The GMT also uses a bidirectional rotating bezel for time-zone adjustment, which adds a tool-watch aesthetic that the plain 5 Sports lacks.

The Yuto Horigome Downtown Tokyo Nights collab reads like a skate collab. Is it a dress watch or a sports watch?

It is firmly in the sports watch camp. The Yuto Horigome collab is built on the Seiko 5 Sports platform with the same automatic movement and 100m water resistance. The dial design references Tokyo nightlife and skate culture visually, but the watch wears like any 5 Sports: casual, robust, everyday. It is not a formal piece.

How does Seiko's automatic movement hold up with Indian heat and humidity?

Seiko's NH35 and NH36 calibres in the 5 Sports range are sealed to 100m water resistance and run without a battery, so humidity does not affect them the way it can damage quartz movements with battery contacts. Long-term care in Indian conditions means keeping the watch away from sustained water contact on crown threads and servicing the movement every 3 to 5 years.
